367 – End of the Fifth Sun

Our series kicks off with the history of memory and the Aztec calendar. It took us a couple of decades to realize what we call the Aztec Calendar wasn’t really a calendar. It’s best defined as a commemorative cutting board with a date etched into it. That date was July 15 1503 and it probably commemorated Motecuhzoma II placing him in the historical tapestry of man’s creation. We learn about the meaning of powering the Sun with heart. How this is tied to the concept of memory and simulation. The fifth Sun was the birth of the moon. The place of the first eclipse. And the summit of an Aztec sacrifice economy.
